(Mar 2010) – The generous Goddess Féile, also known as Mother Earth, has fashioned a beautiful and pure world which she considers her finest creation. She names it Seann Talamh – Ancient Earth.
The perfectly balanced world is populated with various races. The Magi are supreme. Possessing powerful magic, they are the guardians of Féile’s beloved creation. As well as the mages, there are also the draoidhean, a sect of men and women gifted with minor magical talents. The greater population are mortals, governed by a monarchy. In a playful moment of self-indulgence, Féile’s father, the Lord God, Hiarn Yee contributed the Seileach – a race of diminutive creatures, possessed with a healthy appetite and incapable of taking themselves seriously.
When Evil finds its way to Seann Talamh, the Archmage, Eolas creates several thought forms to assist in cleansing his world. One of the thought forms turns rogue. It becomes known as Namhaid – The Enemy and it eventually consumes the Archmage, becoming the single most terrifyingly malevolent creature imaginable.
The story alternates between the now mage-forsaken medieval world of Seann Talamh and modern Australia. A mystical rift opens in a house in Hawthorn, Melbourne, permitting Gemma – a servant trapped within Namhaid’s fortress – a vicarious form of escape from her wretched life. Gemma falls in love with motorcyclist/musician, Daniel Eldridge.
Between Two Worlds: Annals of Seann Talamh, Book 1 moves along at a steady pace as it follows the trials and tribulations the couple face in their quest for love. Tatt’s powerful first novel demonstrates that life is a series of tests, which determine character, strength, and faith. It will appeal to readers on many levels. The characters are easy to relate to and impressively strong.
It is a poignant tale of human endurance, of courage beyond belief, faith beyond compare. Readers will be delighted the story has just begun and will eagerly await the next instalments.
Between Two Worlds: Annals of Seann Talamh, Book 1, is available for order at any Angus & Robertson store Australia wide.
About the author Tatt and her husband live in a small rural community outside Ballarat. The couple share an interest in modern and vintage Japanese motorcycles. Tatt owns Irish Setters and enjoys painting and drawing. Her son Mark struggled with reading in his early years. His affliction provided inspiration for writing the Annals of Seann Talamh. An avid reader, Tatt wanted Mark to share her great passion, especially for fantasy fiction. To encourage him to read, it was suggested mother and son should write a book together. Initially, the 11-year-old assisted with characters, names, and plots. Time passed. Mark became a competent reader and eventually lost interest in the task. He grew up – so did the book. It evolved from a simple children’s story into an epic saga of human endurance. Between Two Worlds: Annals of Seann Talamh, Book 1 is Tatt’s first novel.
